Research Themes
Research toward achieving both development and disaster risk reduction:
- Understanding trends in the spatiotemporal distribution of disaster risk during the development process;
- Research on the ideal approach to DRR in light of emerging social challenges such as climate change and population decline; and
- Research on pre-disaster investment and future risk reduction in developing countries.
Research contents
We conduct research on “development and disaster risk reduction,” which examines the mechanisms by which development aimed at improving quality of life can simultaneously increase disaster risk, and explores how disaster risk reduction should be addressed within broader development challenges.
