Research Themes
- Building a Big Data Infrastructure for Ocean Economic Activities
By collecting data that is both spatially extensive and temporally detailed, we are able to quantify ocean economic activities that have been challenging to visualize. - Evaluating the Productivity of Ocean Natural Capital and Harmonizing with Economic Activities
By applying approaches from resource economics and financial engineering, we investigate how sustainable ocean use can align with economic activities. - Data-Driven Ocean Policy Design and Institutional Framework
We strive for effective ocean governance through evidence-based policy development and institutional reform.
Research contents
In the grand tapestry of our planet, the ocean economy emerges as a vibrant thread, intertwining sustainable economic endeavours with the ocean's natural capital. Ocean governance encompasses the institutional and policy frameworks that shape the ocean economy. Our research explores this dynamic domain, where the currents of economic activity weave the ocean into the fabric of society. We aim to advance the ocean economy by transforming ocean governance through data-driven institutional and policy design. Through this approach, we aim to redefine the interaction between the ocean and society, contributing to the resolution of diverse social challenges.
