In the afternoon of March 27, following the graduation of the regular course students, the basic course participants held their own graduation ceremony.

Due to the Great East Japan Earthquake, it was also a difficult year for international students who were about to come to Japan or who were living in the country. In spite of this situation, two students who came to Tohoku University and joined our basic course program have completed their course and received the certificate (ELTC) and the warm blessings of other program students.
Intensive Class - Basic Course

Two researchers from DOWA Ecosystem Co., Ltd. successfully completed intensive lectures in the basic course in December. One of them joined the course all the way from Thailand.
New Student in Basic Course

We have new student in the basic course in November. Admission of the basic course is available all-year-round, so you can join anytime you want. So far we have students from China, Mexico and Sweden, and will also welcome some more from Vietnam and Thailand soon.
Congratulations to the 1st Graduate Student in Basic Course

The first graduation ceremony of a basic course student of the Environmental Leadership Program (SERMSS) was heldon Sept. 20, 2011. It is the first graduation since the program was launched on June 1, 2010. The academic schedule for the course was delayed in early June due to the Great East Japan Earthquake (March 11, 2011). Almost all of the applications recruited from abroad for training and study at Tohoku University were cancelled, and the number of candidates abruptly went down. Despite this unprecedented situation, three excellent students enrolled (2 at the doctoral level and 1 at the master’s level).
