June 14, 2013

Dr. Lazaro was invited to give a special lecture on ecosystem sustainability. A national park in Cuba is close to a nickel mine and is facing a conflict with the area's development plan. The Cuban government is prioritizing nature resources under the current difficult economic situation, and this raises the question how they can possibly preserve the park under the current policy. This lecture examined ecosystems sustainability based on this case study.
