IPESS  International Program for Environmental Sustainability Science

Outline

"Global 30" is a Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT)'s program to further promote internationalization of core Japanese higher education institutions and to turn them into world-class international education and research centers. Tohoku University is one of the selected institutions under Global 30 program and it launches the Future Global Leadership at Tohoku University (FGL) in Fall 2009.
  
International Program for Environmental Sustainability Science (IPESS) is one of the courses offered under Global 30 programs of Tohoku University, and organized by Graduate School of Environmental Studies (GSES).
  
The main aim of this course (IPESS) is to nurture environmental experts and leaders who could take up active role in the development of "Sustainability Sciences" problems from the perspective of advanced high-technology, policy planning and management, at both domestic and international levels to cater needs of the society at present as well as in the foreseeable future.
  
This course will start from October 2009, and the medium of instruction is English.
  
International candidates who plan to get themselves actively involved in environmental issues are considered for admission.
  
Adequate financial support will be offered to the selected excellent students.

Tohoku University Day in Bandung 2010

In order to introduce this "Global 30 Program", as well as present further information on research and education at Tohoku University, we have decided to hold the "Tohoku University Day" in partnership with Institut Tecknologi Bandung (ITB), Indonesia.
The "Tohoku University Day" is a two-day event to be held from March 18 to 19, 2010.
We very much look forward to seeing you at the event in Bandung.
